To explore more academic opportunities in Australia, over 600 students and guardians visited the educational exhibition, organized by the Australian Agency for Education and Training (AAET), here on Saturday.

Eighteen Australian universities participated in the exhibition, which was held at Sultan Qaboos University at forenoon and at Crowne Plaza Hotel in the evening.

Dr Kylie Baxter, director of AAET, told Oman Tribune that the students, Omanis and expatriates, living in the Sultanate, show special interest in the educational system of Australia as it served their needs as well as address the rapidly changing career requirements and skill developments in the country as well outside.

Baxter said that Omani students were interested in educational and training programmes in the areas of engineering, information technology, health sciences, including medical science, nursing and critical care and nursing.

She said that the AAET had its presence with its offices all over the Gulf region, including the Sultanate since over a decade. It has also been holding such educational exhibitions every year for direct interaction with those students, who intend to get education in Australia.

AAET offers a free recruitment service that supports the students in every step of their educational journey, she said.

Baxter said that over these years, around 1,500 Omani students got education in Australian universities and the number was still growing. “Omanis are very successful in general in the Australian education system. They feel privileged due to their education in Australia and their successful career after completion of the programmes of their choice”, she said.

Universities and educational institutions from Victoria, New south Wales, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and Western Australia were present at the exhibition.
